Science Week at Seacliff Primary

The workshops run by Science for Real that all students, R to 7, attended during National Science Week were fun and action-based.  Many students have reported that they had a great time and learnt a lot.

As part of the week’s celebrations, students of our school also visited other classes for cross-age science activities, such as the science investigations enjoyed together by Room 16, 17, 18 and 19 children.

On Wednesday, Room 13 and 17 students visited the SA Museum in the city and were led through a guided tour by Aboriginal Education Program Coordinator, Eva Wilson, adding valuable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, histories and cultures to the week’s learning.

To cap the week off, some of our students had their Oliphant Science Awards entries displayed on the weekend at the Oliphant Science Open Day organized by the South Australian Science Teachers’ Association.

Highly Commended in Oliphant Science Awards

Congratulations to Gihana Noordeen and Henrietta Belmont-McDonnell for winning a Highly Commended award in the Oliphant Science Awards for their investigation, ‘Boats and Fast Currents’. 

Around thirty Seacliff Primary students entered the awards this year.  While twenty-four students carried out most of their requirements at school, we thank parents and carers for giving support with entries.
