Room 1 – Back in Time!
This semester, Room 1 have been learning about the past and how daily life has changed due to the use of technology. Students have been comparing family life, toys, the way we communicate and transport.
We have had a lot of fun investigating the differences! Through reading books set in the olden days, watching short videos and researching, we have been able to design our own olden day toys and use our art skills to draw a horse and cart.
When designing our olden toys, it was important that we included features of an olden toy such as, being hand-made, simple and easy to use, more durable, limited range of toys and not many parts.
To create our horse and cart, we followed a guided drawing. We carefully followed each step to ensure that our horse and cart were the same size. After that, each student had the opportunity to write about what they had learnt about the horse and cart and how transport has changed in the present day.
“The horse and cart were used to transport people and things. Now we use cars that have technology to make transport easier.” – Lucinda
“The horse and cart were discovered long ago and used man power. Now we use cars, buses and trains which make transports faster.” – Kaj
