Thank you and farewell to departing 2021 staff!
As the school year is now drawing to an end, we wish to publicly acknowledge, on behalf of the Seacliff School Community, staff and parents, the wonderful contribution of the contracts and permanent teachers who have worked tirelessly this year and over the many years that they have worked for the Department for Education.
Throughout the last term at Seacliff Primary, in my role as Environmental Intern, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a number of students from across the year levels on redeveloping the ‘Butterfly Walk’ on the eastern side of the school. Unfortunately, necessary tree removals and time had left the area looking rather run down.
Stretch-thinking and learning observations
We began the session by working on a stretch-thinking task where our learning was observed and shared. The observations about what was seen and heard was shared as feedback at the conclusion of the task.
Reflection
The remainder of the session focused on each school reflecting on our work over the year.
Each school was given a range of questions to discuss and respond to with our results shared with the audience of students and leadership.
On the 12th of November, 2 teams of students went to St John’s Grammar School in Belair to compete in a Maths competition. The Year 7 team consisted of: Harveen Kaur, Jaxon Mossop, Cooper Berry and Jordan Rowe. The Year 6 team was made up of: Minami Doubell, Georgie Hunt, Liam O’Neill and Tyler Gillon. We were enthusiastic to participate in an academic challenge against other schools.
On Monday, November 1st, the Year 3s from Room 17, (Mr. Schiller), and the Year 4s & 5s from Room 13, (Mrs. Cameron & Ms. Flato-Beckett), visited Art Gallery SA for a guided tour of the Tarnanthi Exhibition of Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art.
At the end of last term, a group of around 22 volunteers from our school community, (parents, grandparents and guardians), supported their children / grandchildren in being trained in environmental care by Education Officer Jeremy Gramp, from Green Adelaide. Seacliff Primary’s Sustainability intern, Amber Mausolf, also attended.
On Thursday of week 7, students in year R-2 had their Sports Day. The day had been thoughtfully planned by our year 6 and 7 captains to ensure a fun and successful day.
