Japanese Hiragana Competition
On Wednesday October 27, a few Year 7 students went to Reynella East College to compete in the annual Japanese Hiragana competition. They competed against 13 other schools in the southern region to see who could read the most Hiragana letters. Hiragana is the first of three Japanese alphabets and has 46 letters.
Last Friday, October 15, Seacliff Primary School entered two teams in the School Sport SA Mountain Bike Championship event for the first time (an under 13 team and an under 15 team). Altogether, there were 181 teams from all around SA. The event was located at O’Halloran Hill Recreation Park.
What a night it was, “Stars in the Arena” celebrating 130 years of the Primary Schools Music Festival at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
On the evening of Wednesday 8th September our Seacliff Primary School choir performed alongside students from all across our state.

On Friday the 17th of September we had our year 3-7 Sports Day. We started the day off with great team chants and a fantastic warm up. This continued into our sprints and long distance run before we went into our events. The day was designed by our sports day captains with Miss Mooney-Doe to ensure a successful and enjoyable day for everyone. It involved a range of athletic events, sports, and group games.
Friday 27th August was a memorable day at Seacliff Primary school, when we welcomed a school full of costumed characters from ‘Old worlds, new worlds and other worlds.’
Students and staff joined in with the colourful parade, which finished with the whole school participating in a Flash Mob, to the music of ‘The Greatest Showman’.
On Wednesday 30 June, 16 year seven students, (and some late additions!) and seven staff members from Seacliff Primary School are making a hairy sacrifice… and they are choosing to ‘Do It For Cancer’.
The group of boys and girls are planning to either shave their heads or chop off their ponytails, in the hope of raising $10,000 in honour of everyone they know affected by cancer, and to support a staff member whose grandson lost his life to cancer earlier this year.
On Wednesday March 24, Seacliff Primary School celebrated Harmony Day and the Japanese festival of Hanami with dramatic dances and a picnic lunch. Families were invited to attend and we would like to thank all of those who came and made it a real community event.
On Friday the 5th of March 102 Seacliff students in years 4 to 7 headed to Glenelg Beach to play in a beach volleyball carnival against a range of different schools. It was fantastic to see the excitement leading up and throughout the day of the carnival. Students had been focusing on volleyball during their PE lessons and had been using their own time to continue practicing with their team.

It was certainly a ‘hot, 40 degree Friday full of excitement as classes from across the whole school shared their Term 4 Performing Arts work. Playing to a smaller audience (just students and staff) than we’d originally hoped, it was still a great occasion. The costumes were fantastic and we salute the efforts of Mrs Theodosi and Mrs Angel for all of their preparation for the day.
South West District Athletics
At the end of Term 3 we started to prepare ourselves for the South West District Athletics Carnival. We were thrilled this event was still happening because of the delay in Term 2 due to COVID-19.
As we have numerous talented students, we planned our trials for those who wished to be in our athletics team. There was some great talent shown in our trials but it was tough competition.
