On the 16th and 17th of March, Chris Collin, the celebrated children’s author, came to Seacliff Primary school, to do presentations for each class at our school. He spoke about making reading fun for all ages, even those who are not in the ‘target audience’.

During these past few weeks of term, Room 16 have been investigating shapes. We began with identifying and recognizing 2D shapes. We know 2D shapes are flat and have edges and corners. As an activity. we used pop-sticks or matchsticks to create the shapes we knew. We then labelled them with the shape name, number of sides and corners.
In HASS, this term Room 5 have been focusing on Geography. The class has thoroughly enjoyed exploring their world and places that are significant to them. As part of this unit, we have been going on a class plane to travel around the world. We have a designated student pilot that chooses a country they would like to travel to. The pilot sits at the front of the plane and takes us to their desired country. We have recently flown to Mexico, Netherlands, England, and Australia.
In Room 2 we have been studying the Chemical Sciences this term. We have been learning to recognise and discuss how things have changed. This is so we can understand that some changes are reversible, and some changes are irreversible.
We had a mysterious package delivered to our classroom. The packaged had a note that told us we needed to solve the mystery of what had happened.
In Term 3, Room 1 has been learning about how things grow and change in their science unit. We have explored many different living things! We planted beans to document and observe the changes. Students recorded these in our bean diaries, and we were surprised how quickly they grew!
Thank you to all of the family and friends who came to watch us on Sports Day. We had lots of fun! Thank you to the Sports Day leaders, our teachers and Ms Mooney-Doe too!
Room 16 has been very excited about our science learning this term. Our focus has been on living things, what they need to survive, and their life cycles. We would love to show you our plants, Aqua dragons and Information Reports!
We have been learning Procedural Writing. This week we helped Mrs McPherson learn how to blow a bubble with giant bubble wands.
We worked with a partner to write out each step. Then Mrs McPherson followed the steps. We worked out it was tricky, and we had to be really detailed in our information otherwise she didn’t know what to do!
