During the beach excursion, students investigated which types of plants and creatures survive in different zones closer to or further away from the water, examined soil samples from different zones, identified plants and creatures washed up on the beach, imaginatively created their own creature that was somehow adapted to survive in the area and designed their own anti-erosion invention.
This term, Room 16 has been learning about Forces for our Physical Sciences Unit. Students are expressing an interest in this topic and enjoy sharing their own experiences and understanding of forces in and around their home and school environments.
Together, we have been learning how a force acts on an object to make it move in different directions. Some of these forces include ‘push’, ‘pull’, ‘gravity’, ‘resistance’ and ‘lift’.
On Friday the 5th of March 102 Seacliff students in years 4 to 7 headed to Glenelg Beach to play in a beach volleyball carnival against a range of different schools. It was fantastic to see the excitement leading up and throughout the day of the carnival. Students had been focusing on volleyball during their PE lessons and had been using their own time to continue practicing with their team.
At Seacliff Primary School, students in Years 5, 6 and 7 comprise our Student Voice in Learning project team. Our students are empowered to fully and proudly participate in school life. By building in student voice opportunities across all aspects of learning, students can engage, participate, lead and learn.
At Reception and Year 1 level, making Maths fun and enjoyable is the basis for creating and supporting students to become Literate and Numerate at an early age.
Establishing a positive classroom culture paves the way for a very successful school year! During the first week of school we collaborated to develop our class contract. It is created around our 6 school values. As a class we unpacked what each value meant so students were able to develop a deeper understanding of each. Students worked in groups to create ‘we will’ statements for each value.
Room 5 children have also had an opportunity to be involved in small group cooking activities in Seacliff’s amazing new kitchen and GUESS WHAT!!!! Yes, they were the first to use it!
The students would like to thank the Fundraising Committee, and all school community members who participated in the various events that assisted in raising money for the kitchen.
Our school’s ‘Core Values’ are COMMUNITY, ACHIEVEMENT, RESILIENCE, RESPECT, INNOVATION and INTEGRITY.
We have been creating community art pieces as a means to support and promote these values in the way that we live our lives from day to day. We hope to have the RESPECT and ACHIEVEMENT art works completed before the end of 2022.
SHAPES, SHAPES, SHAPES
Room 16 have had a busy end to the term, especially in maths. We have been learning about a range of 2D and 3D shapes and objects. Have a look at some of our learning.
We have been practicing recognizing two dimensional shapes around the classroom and using some of these shapes to create tangram pictures.

It was certainly a ‘hot, 40 degree Friday full of excitement as classes from across the whole school shared their Term 4 Performing Arts work. Playing to a smaller audience (just students and staff) than we’d originally hoped, it was still a great occasion. The costumes were fantastic and we salute the efforts of Mrs Theodosi and Mrs Angel for all of their preparation for the day.
