The students from Rooms 0, 3 and 4 have had great fun learning all about the creatures that live in, or close to, the sea. They have discovered many interesting facts about sea creatures. They got to go swimming with sea lions using virtual reality headsets. They met a porcupine fish, a Port Jackson shark, stingrays and seahorses.
The school was invited by the City of Holdfast Bay to be involved in the volunteer and education program, therefore the Year 3/4s of Room 10 and Year 4/5s of Room 11 took up the opportunity. The students were very enthusiastic to contribute to this worthwhile environmental project, which is in their own ‘backyard’. This integrates well with our school and local community environmental focus this year.
Seacliff Primary will be offering Oliphant Science Awards involvement for all of the students of the school, R to 7, again this year. If your child wishes to enter, please provide relevant details via this app and pay your registration fee by Thursday, May 27th.
Friday 19th March ‘National Day of Action – Bullying NO WAY!’
Across classes at Seacliff Primary, students participated in a variety of lessons, tasks and activities to raise awareness of the definition of bullying, the impact of bullying and strategies to prevent and stop bullying to mark The National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence.
Student wellbeing is a priority and staff diligently get to know their students, plan engaging learning tasks and provide opportunities for achievement, build respectful and supportive relationships and closely monitor the emotional wellbeing of each. Similarly, staff wellbeing is vital to manage stress and maintain a healthy work/life balance and to flourish in life.
On Monday 22 March, Skye, Jordan, Lyla, Maddy and Eve went to Southern Montessori School to participate in the Green Adelaide Youth Environmental Leaders Program. Four other southern schools were represented
The day consisted of a series of environmental activities. After the ice-breaker we did a ‘future vision’ activity, which involved thinking about how our actions today has an effect on the future.
On Thursday March 18th Team Canteen held an incredibly successful Taco Day! We made a record 133 tacos on the day (as well as other lunches) with delicious fresh ingredients and the tomato salsa being a major hit!
In the lead up to Taco Day we held a colouring competition- Congratulations to Lola Rm 18, Aisha Rm 3 and George Rm 4! We hope you enjoyed your $2 voucher to spend in the canteen!
On Monday 29 March, 40 Seacliff Primary students headed to the Brighton Lacrosse Club to play in a carnival against a variety of schools. This carnival was a great way to introduce these students to lacrosse and expand their skills in a sport that some of them haven’t played a lot of.
On Wednesday March 24, Seacliff Primary School celebrated Harmony Day and the Japanese festival of Hanami with dramatic dances and a picnic lunch. Families were invited to attend and we would like to thank all of those who came and made it a real community event.
This semester Room 1 have been learning about the past and how daily life has changed due to the use of technology. Students have been comparing family life, toys, the way we communicate and transport.
We have had a lot of fun investigating the differences! Through reading books set in the olden days, watching short videos and researching, we have been able to design our own olden day toys and use our art skills to draw a horse and cart.
