Room 5 – Travelling ‘First Class’ Around the World
In HASS, this term Room 5 have been focusing on Geography. The class has thoroughly enjoyed exploring their world and places that are significant to them.
As part of this unit, we have been going on a class plane to travel around the world. We have a designated student pilot that chooses a country they would like to travel to. The pilot sits at the front of the plane and takes us to their desired country. We have recently flown to Mexico, Netherlands, England, and Australia.
When we land at our destination, we have our passports stamped and then discuss and learn about the different cultures, foods, and traditions that country may have. We also take the time to discuss and compare these factors to our own country.
One of our class pilots recently chose to take us on a flight around Australia, where we had the opportunity to visit all the States and Territories. We were even lucky enough to try some traditional Australian foods, such as vegemite sandwiches, fairy bread, lamingtons, and Anzac biscuits.
We have had so much fun learning and travelling around the world in our class plane.
