Japanese Hiragana Competition

On Wednesday October 27, a few Year 7 students went to Reynella East College to compete in the annual Japanese Hiragana competition. They competed against 13 other schools in the southern region to see who could read the most Hiragana letters. Hiragana is the first of three Japanese alphabets and has 46 letters.

Caleb, Ella, Jonah and Sofia from Room 14 represented Seacliff well and should be proud of their efforts preparing for the competition and on the day. All of these students received recognition for their excellent listening and participation at the event. Unfortunately, due to Covid, we were only able to take limited students to the event, but I would also like to commend Jordan and Ethan for being back up competitors and attending the meetings and practice sessions before the event, even if they were unable to attend on the day.

The students had a very enjoyable day and all four students were even lucky enough to win a Japanese-themed prize from the raffle at the end of the competition!
