Glenthorne Nature Play Winner!

Last term, Seacliff Primary School was invited by Minister David Speirs to participate in a competition for the newly established Glenthorne National Park. Students were asked to design one element to be included in the creation of a new nature play space in the park. Minister Speirs explained “it is going to be one of the biggest nature play spaces in South Australia”. For the entry to be considered students needed to meet the criteria of the competition. The element needed to be inclusive for all, include Kaurna culture, be practical for the park and consider the natural environment of the local area. Each primary school invited to participate in the competition could only submit 10 entries. A number of classes produced some wonderful imaginative designs. The designs were then voted on by peers and staff to choose the top entries to be submitted to Minister Speirs. These entries came from a range of classes and year levels across our school.

Congratulations Georgie Hunt

Congratulations to Georgie Hunt from Room 18 & 19 for winning the competition. This is a fantastic achievement considering the number of primary schools involved. Georgie designed an element that encompassed all of the criteria which was a sensory dome play area with multiple entry points. It included a stepping stone entry path with Kaurna symbols, the base was grass and it will be made from a number of different materials to create a sensory experience.
