Room 5 tests out our ‘new’ kitchen
The children in Room 5 are currently working on exploring the different ways Maths is everywhere in their lives. It is not only Number but so much more! Together with Room 2’s Reception/Year 1 class, they have worked on a Number Talk task involving seven dinosaurs.
Room 5 children have also had an opportunity to be involved in small group cooking activities in Seacliff’s amazing new kitchen and GUESS WHAT? Yes, they were the first to use it!
The students would like to thank the Fundraising Committee, and all school community members who participated in the various events that assisted in raising money for the kitchen.
Room 5 students brainstormed all the learning involved in cooking small cakes.
Health: Washing hands, Working collaboratively, listening and respecting one another and taking turns.
Science: Chemical reaction / Senses—smelling, looking and tasting. Yum!
Maths: So much Maths— measuring, time, counting, grouping, odds and evens and sharing
English: Reading a recipe—Procedural writing, making their own ‘We made cakes today’ – Recount writing
Having the kitchen upgraded will make such a big difference to the hands-on experiences our children can have. Thank you again sooooo much to the Fundraising Committee!
