SSO Week @ Seacliff Primary – 24 to 28 August
This week, teaching staff and students have recognised the wonderful contribution to children’s learning and well being, and to the school more generally, through the work of our fabulous School Support Officers (SSOs). As adults, when we reflect on our school years, it is generally easier to remember the classroom teachers who have directly impacted on us for large chunks of time. However, behind the scenes and keeping the wheels turning of school organisations, are the SSOs. And in our busy lives, the more smoothly a school functions, the less our attention is brought to the work that they do. So, to quickly scratch the surface of the diverse nature of SSO work at Seacliff, below are just some of the responsibilities that our SSO team help manage:
- In-classroom intervention and support
- Specialist Intervention Support i.e. TOOSmart! And QuickSmart
- Financial management and forward planning support
- Funrniture ordering and distribution
- Enrolment and transition communications
- Maintenance of grounds and buildings
- ICT infrastructure, hardware and software support
- Library resource cataloguing and support
- Project management of infrastructure development
- ‘Front of house’ communications and information distribution
- First aid and First Aid Kit supply replenishment
- Book orders and classroom resource distribution
- SSO staffing recruitment and management
- WHS policies and procedures
- Supporting Governing Councils management of Canteen and OSHC services
- Support of school camps and excursions
- Managing the uniform shop
- TRT payment and data management
- Managing the EDSAS program
- Management of the SENTRAL database
- Recording absences and answering calls
- Invoicing and receipting families

- And the list goes on….
A heartfelt ‘thank you’ to all of these wonderful people on behalf of the Seacliff Primary School Governing Council, teachers and families!
