OSHC has been busy over the holidays, with not only our Vacation Care Program but the construction of the new verandah. We wanted a whole community approach to this decision, we had input from families, children and staff about what would best suit our children’s needs. With the need for more space, and somewhere out of hot and wet weather we decided on the verandah. Although the structure is complete, we will see some additional features being added over the coming weeks. With next year’s budget, we’ll be purchasing some outdoor furniture and resources for the area.
In lieu of our regular excursions these holidays, we focused on a program full of different activities for different personalities.
One of the greatest things about working with children is the variation of interests and hobbies they pursue, which is what OSHC is all about. With this in mind we had themed days around sports, science, craft, construction, digital gaming, cooking and an OSHC party featuring Magic Mike. We are already planning our October Program and are looking forward to going on excursions and maintaining a rich program back at school.
Introducing Jody Reading
Many of you may know that Sarah Burgan, our OSHC director will be going on Maternity Leave towards the end of August. She will be on leave until late February next year, enjoying time with her new daughter who is due in early September. We would like to warmly welcome Jody Reading to our staffing team as Acting Director in Sarah’s absence.
A note from Jody herself:
My name is Jody Reading and I am originally from Hertfordshire, England but I have now emigrated to Australia with my husband. My previous main role was as Head of Girls Physical Education in a combined primary and secondary school. I have recently been temporary relief teaching in Adelaide. I enjoy watching live sports events, going to see theatre shows and attending music events. I also enjoy playing netball, roller skating, following Formula One, watching animal documentaries and I am hoping to now be able to participate in kayaking more regularly being in a warmer country. I am also trying to learn how to play the guitar. I am very excited about working at Seacliff Primary School and I look forward to meeting everyone.
